As a graduate of Osceola County Public Schools and Florida State Colleges, Shan understands the importance of funding and programming. She will work to increase afterschool program funding, including facilities, virtual reality (VR), and programming, increase teacher pay, access to early education, and workforce training programs. Shan will work to expand the education, awareness, and funding for mental health and drug treatment.
As a woman who has lost pregnancies, Shan knows the importance of women having the right to make their own personal medical decisions. She has supported and will fight to ensure access to reproductive health, including pre-natal and post-natal care and has fought against dangerous bans on abortion. She will advocate for the ERA, earned sick time, paid parental leave, equal work for equal pay, and stronger systems to report sexual assault and harassment.
Regardless of where you come from, who you love, who you worship, how much money you make, the color of your skin, your gender, your sexual preference, or your disability status – you should have equal opportunity to achieve your dreams and live a life free of discrimination.
Shan realizes that importance of taking action on critical environmental issues, create policy that positively impacts Florida’s environment, and encourage people to be responsible environmental stewards. She will work to ensure every community has clean air, access to fresh food, and clean water.
No one should live in poverty; Shan will push for economic diversity and sustainable development. She will work to increase the efficiency of youth employment opportunities. Shan will work to enhance the permitting process for development, which includes permit turnaround times and impact fees. Shan will work to expand Medicaid, including cost, Virtual Reality (VR) therapy, programming for coping with disabilities, and more. Shan will work to increase funding for affordable and mixed-use housing.
Raising a young child Shan understands the importance of safe communities. She will work to secure neighborhoods and reduce crime, bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, work with City and County government to ensure they receive infrastructure funding to make sure every streetlight works, and roads are paved.
